Qatar Airways Privilege Club Avios Expiration Policy

Qatar Airways Privilege Club Avios have a fixed expiration date. Avios earned are generally valid for 36 months from the date they were earned (specifically, they expire at the end of the half-year period in which they were earned, e.g., Avios earned Jan-Jun 2025 expire Jun 30, 2028; Avios earned Jul-Dec 2025 expire Dec 31, 2028).

Crucially, account activity does NOT extend the validity of Qatar Airways Avios. Earning more Avios or redeeming Avios does not reset the 36-month clock on Avios you've already earned. Each batch of Avios has its own lifespan based on when it was credited.

Note: Similar to some other programs, Platinum members' Avios do not expire as long as they maintain Platinum status.

This 'hard expiry' policy (for non-Platinum members) requires careful tracking of when Avios were earned to ensure they are redeemed before expiring.

Since activity doesn't prevent expiration for most members, the only way to avoid losing Qatar Airways Avios is to redeem them before their specific expiration date.
